“Seattle artist Jared Knight calls his new oils “abstract landscapes,” and while many of these paintings evoke the high desert by night or Earth-rise over the moon, Knight insists their inspiration lies solely in the topography of his subconscious. These imaginative, clumpily textural compositions feature strong horizon lines in the upper third, with ground below-in sludgy browns and mustards-and sky above, shaded from turquoise to deepest midnight, with crackly patches of clouds interspersed and speckled stars impeccably dripped.”

Artist Statement:

“Painting is a relic of a journey made. In fact, the painting is both the vehicle and the idea. Through painting, the discoveries are found as well as premeditated. Esthetics is the least important, but somehow becomes the means of finalization. What I find in the end is just pure authenticity”.
